Grandfather Mountain Animals : Grandfather Mountain is a State Park preserve with some injured animals (from hunters or just injured) and some born to captivity so they can't be turned to the wild. Beautiful place to visit with some nice animals. It is located just outside of Linville and off of Hwy 221. You can see Grandfather from the Parkway.

USA Cycling National Championships Gravity Downhill : Mountain Bike Gravity Nationals - Beech Mountain, NC held on September 23-25, 2011. Gravity riders migrated to Beech Mountain, N.C., as the Mountain Bike Gravity National Championships were held. National titles will were awarded in both downhill and dual slalom when riders competed in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. There will be more images coming soon from the Sunday rides.

Welcome to the website. I have been collecting great images of the mountains of western North Carolina for quite some time. I love to tell a story through my images. I chose this creative outlet as a way to get away from the rat race and enjoy life. It is also what I will pursue once I do retire from the military.

MTNSnapshots is in Boone, North Carolina, way up in the western mountains. This is some of the best scenery the Blue Ridge Parkway has to offer and I find myself lost in those areas every week.
